Annas Barwise of Newcowbier in Holme Cultram; proved, 1584

"In the name of God Amen. The 10th day of August in the year of our Lord 1584. I Ann Barwis of Newcowbier in the parish of Holm being sick in body but whole in mind & perfect in remembrance praised be God do swear and set forth my last will and testament in manner as following.

First I give my soul to almighty God my maker and redeemer and my body to be buried in the parish churchyard aforesaid.

Item: I give unto Janet my daughter one cow

Item: I give unto John (Robert crossed out) my son one saw

The rest of all my goods moveable and unnmoveable my debts being paid and my funeral expenses discharged I give unto Janet Barwis, Margaret also my daughter I make * my executrice .
