"In the name of God, Amen. I Elizabeth Barwis of Etherside in the parish of Abbey Holm & the county of Cumberland, widow, being weakly in body but sound and perfect in mind and memory praised be God for the same, do make and order this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

First and principally the commending my soul into the hands of my creator hoping through the merits of my redeemer to have full pardon of all my sins and to be * a partaker of eternal felicity, and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried according to the discretion of my executors hereafter named

And as for the * estates wherewith the almighty hath endowed me with I dispose thereof as follows:

Item: I give and bequeath unto Anne Barwis the oldest daughter of my son John the sum of fifteen pounds

And Peggy his youngest daughter the sum of fifteen pounds

Item: I give to Richard Barwis the son of my son Joseph Barwis a * case with 5 spoons with also silver handed knives and forks

Item: I give to Isabel Barwis the daughter of the said Joseph my son the sum of forty pounds and also one third of the money due to me from London of what is got or received to be impowered to each for it at the age of twenty-one & ‘til then Mary her mother to have interest of it.

Item: I give son John and daughter Anne each one third of what is got or received of the money due to me from London now under the care of Mr. Richard Bowes(?)

An all the rest of my goods and chattels moveable and immoveable (my debts legacies and funeral expenses being first paid and discharged) I give and bequeath to my daughter Anne Rigg whom I make the sole executrix of my last will and testament hereby revoking * all former wills by me heretofore made.

In witness of which I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of May in the sixth year of the reign of our sovereign lord George the Third of Great Britain France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith etc., the year of our Lord 1766
