Isaac Barwise, Mason, Scales, Bromfield Proved 18th June 1765
"In the name of God, Amen. I, Isaac Barwis, of Scales in the parish of Bromfield in the County of Cumberland, being of sound and perfect memory (thanks be to almighty God for the same) do make this my last will and testament in manner & form following (that is to say): First, I give and bequeath unto my loving wife, Mary Barwis, all my household goods now within my kitchen and parlour at Scales aforesaid for & during her natural life, & after her decease, I give and bequeath the said household goods to my son, Isaac Barwise (hereafter to be named my executor).
I also give & bequeath to my daughter Hannah Gate one shilling
I likewise give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Stamper one shilling
And all the rest & residue of my goods and chattels & personal estate whatsoever I give and bequeath to my said son Isaac Barwis of Longthwaite in the parish of Wigton, who I make whole and sole executor of this my last will & testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two.
