John Barwise, Burgh by Sands; proved 1580

AD 1580

"In the name of God, Amen; The XXXth day of December; I John Barwisse of the parish of Burgh by Sands, sick in body but of perfect memory, make this my last will and testament in form following:

First, I committ my soul to Almighty God and my body to be buried within the churchyard of Burgh by Sands with all my duties paid according to the * * laws of this realm.

And to * half of all my goods, I give and bequeath to Jane Markrome and Janet Barwisse, my daughters, and I command the aforesaid Jane Markrome shall bring by the said Janet Barwisse of the said goods unto such time as she be of eighteen years.

The residue of all my goodsboth moveable and unmoveable, I give and bequeath to Thomas Barwisse, John Barwisse, Robert Barwisse and Mungo (?) Barwisse, whom I make my * executors.

Witnesses to this will and testament William Syme, Alexander Matthew and Richard Hodshon."
