John Barwise, Yeoman, Hayton, Aspatria Proved 1796
"In the name of God, Amen. I John Barwise of Hayton in the parish of Aspatria in the County of Cumberland, yeoman, being sound disposing mind and memory yet mindful of my mortality, do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
First I give and bequeath unto my son John Barwise the sum of ten pounds.
I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Barwise the sum of one hundred and sixty pounds.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebecca Harkas the sum of one shilling.
Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson John Harkas the sum of five pounds when he attains the age of twenty one years.
Also I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Isabel Harkas the sum of five pounds when she attains the age of twenty one years.
And in case my grandson John Harkas or my granddaughter Isabel Harkas or both of them die before the attainment of twenty one years that the survivor and the other brothers and sisters shall have an equal share of the money of the deceased to be divided equally amongst them.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Makevin the sum of one shilling.
Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson John Makevin the sum of ten pounds when he attains the age of twenty one years. And in case my grandson John Makevin shall die before he attains the age of twenty one years the above said sum of ten pounds is to be divided amongst the brothers and sisters of the aforesaid John Makevin equally share and share alike.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Francis (sic) Little the sum of thirty pounds.
Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson John Little the sum of five pounds when he attains the age of twenty one years.
Also I give and bequeath unto my grandson William Little the sum of five pounds when he attains the age of twenty one years.
And if either of these my two grandsons John Little or William Little die before the attainment of twenty one years then the share of the deceased to go to the survivor of them.
All the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels credits and personal estate I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Barwise whom I hereby appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of April 1793.
