John Barwis of Bromfield; proved, 1603 Photocopy

"In the name of God Amen. The 22nd day of December in the year of our lord God 1603. I John Barwis of Langrigg in the parish of Bromfield * in * * by the hand of death but whole in mind & in good & perfect remembrance thanks be to God do make this my last will & testament in manner and form following.

First and most principally I give and commend my soul unto almighty God my creator and redeemer through whose death and passion I trust to be saved, and my body to be buried within my parish churchyard of Bromfield.

Item: I give unto my oldest son John Barwis all my husbandry gear and all singular wood gear being in my w* wrought and unwrought.

Item: I give unto my son Richard Barwis £3 5s 6d of good and lawful current money of England to be paid at the end of eight years.

Item: all the rest of my goods and chattels my debts paid and my funeral expenses discharged I give unto my son John, Richard, Margaret and James my children whom I make my executors.
