John Barwise of Langrigg in Bromfield; proved, 1632 Photocopy

"In the name of God Amen. The 29th of January 1632. I John Barwis of Langrigg sick in body but whole in mind and in perfect remembrance do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

First I give my soul into the hands of almighty God my creator * through the mouth of death and perils of hell * my redeemer, to be one of his elect in his glorious kingdom & my body I will shall be buried in my parish churchyard of Bromfield.

Item: I give to my son Thomas Barwis all my husbandry gear whatsoever.

Item: I give to my daughter Maria Barwis one chest (?) that was her mother’s.

Item: All the rest of my goods and chattels, my debts paid and my funeral expenses discharged I give to my sons John Barwis, William Barwis and my three daughters Maria, Jane and Eleanor Barwis whom I make my executors.

Witnesses hereunto required: Mr. William Osmotherley, John Keye, John Ritson & Peter Becke Vicar of Bromfield."
