Will of Osmotherley Barwise of Old Malbrow, yeoman (Carlisle Probate Registry)
To son George Barwise; to third son John Barwise, and to daughter Mary Barwise £200 each. These legacies to be paid 12 months after death of my mother Frances Barwise out of money arising by the Redemption and sale of my estate of Lowsay now mortgaged to William Beeby of Crookhurst. The equity of Redemption of Lowsay to Robert Sibson of Old Mowbray in trust that he after death of my mother Frances Barwise (being entitled to her Dower) shall redeem and sell it. The proceeds from the sale after payment of Principal and Interest to said William Beeby and the payment of said legacies to go to my eldest son Thomas Barwise. If said Thomas give satisfactory security to Robert Sibson or to my younger children for payment of legacies Lowsay shall not be sold but descend to Son Thomas Barwise and his heirs. Otherwise Robert Sibson is to sell the said property.
Robert Sibson is appointed executor. Residue to my daughter Mary Barwise 14 Dec., 1789.
