In the name of God Amen. I Robert Barwise of Whittrigg in the parish of Torpenhow and county of Cumberland yeoman, being weak in body but of sound mind, memory and understanding (blessed be God), do this 10th. Day of April in the year of our Lord 1768 make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

First I give and bequeath to Mary Bell formerly my servant but now in Scotland, the sum of £5 of lawful money of Great Britain, to be paid by my executor and executrix herein after named, at the end of twelve months after my decease.

I give and bequeath to my cousin Jane Wise The sum of 2 guineas to be paid in manner and form aforesaid.

I give and bequeath to my nephew John Barwise all my stock of sheep that I die possessed of.

I give and bequeath to my niece Barbara Barwise my best chest which I die possessed of.

I give and bequeath to Martha Barwise my sister in law the sum of 20 shillings, to be paid by my nephew John Barwise yearly and every year during her life natural, out of my freehold estate and for non-payment thereof, my will is that my said sister shall have hold occupy posses and enjoy my said estate during her life natural.

I give and bequeath to my niece Barbara Barwise all my sum or sums of money notes bills and bonds that I die possessed of. And my will is that she shall the same immediately after my decease.

I give and bequeath to my niece Barbara Barwise the sum of £84 of lawful money of Great Britain, to be paid by my nephew John Barwise his heirs or assigns out of my freehold estate at the end of 24 months after my decease.

Lastly if it so chance that both my nephew John Barwise and my niece Barbara Barwise die without lawful issue, then my will is that Joseph Barwise of Low Ireby his heirs or assigns for ever shall have hold occupy possess and enjoy my said freehold estate situate lying and being at Whittrigg aforesaid.

All the rest and residue of my goods and chattels and personal estate whatsoever, after the payment of my debts legacies and funeral expenses I give and bequeath to my nephew John Barwise and niece Barbara Barwise, who I nominate and appoint joint executor and executrix of this my last will and testament revoking all and other wills by me made.
