Original will of William Barwys of Lowsay (Carlisle Probate Registry)

"3rd April, 1629 William Barwys of Lowsey in Holmecoltrame did make his last will nuncupative in manner and forme following ffyrst he gave his soule unto Almighty God his Creator and redeemer and his bodye to be buryed within the p'ish Church of Holmcoltrame aforsaid. Item he gave unto his wife Annas Barwys a bay nagg, and a third of all his husbandry geare. Item he gave and bequesthed unto his sonne William Barwys VI bushells of bigge and VIII bushells of haver at Gamlesbye, and two parts of all his husbandry geere. Item he gave and bequeathed unto Mary Barwys daughter of John Barwys of Tarns a gimmer lambe. All the rest of his goods and chattells movable and unmoveable (his debts legacies and funerall expenses discharged and his wives third part reserved to her) he gave and bequeathed unto his thre daughters, Nelle, Denne, and Mary Barwys all whom he named executrixes of this his last will and testament. Witnesses hereof, Hough Leithes, Richard Kendall, John Barwys and John Wise."

Proved at Wigden 9 Jan., 1629/30. Administration granted to Agnotes Barwise, widow, for the executrixes who are minors.
