"In the name of God Amen. I William Barwis of Plasketlands in the parish of Holm Cultram & County of Cumberland, yeoman, being sick in body but of sound and perfect memory, praise therefore given to almighty God, do make & ordain this my last will in manner and form following (that is to say):

First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God hoping that through the * death and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full & free pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life, & my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named

* * such lawful estate as it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me, I give and dispose thereof as followeth:

First I will that my debts and funeral expenses be paid and discharged and also all my goods and chattels I give and bequeath unto Jane Barwis my loving wife who I make full and sole executrix of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke disclaim and make void all other wills and testaments by me hithertofore and in witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this second day of February in the year of our Lord 1733/4
